PM Skincare Routine 2017

Last week I showed you my morning skincare routine, so today I will be showing you the products that I use at night.

If I'm wearing makeup, I begin with Simple Cleansing Oil. Such a cheap product, but works well to melt the makeup away. I then finish the cleansing process with the Moreish cream cleanser another budget friendly cleanser that is gentle yet effective.

Not pictured is the mix of coconut water and small amount of salt water that I apply to my face with a cotton pad. Once dry I then like to give myself a spritz of rose water.

Next is the Re RGBF serum which absorbs quite quickly, so I can then apply an eye serum.  My current night moisturiser is Swisse Hibiscus Anti-Aging Cream.

Closer to bed time I spritz again with rose water, then while my face is stil wet, the Hand Chemistry Retin A Body Oil. Once the oil is well on its way to being absorbed, I apply Skinn Reorganize Night Eye Balm.

Sukin Oil-Balancing Anti Pollution Facial Masque

The recent Priceline 40% off skincare sale had me buying quite a few items including the Sukin Oil-Balancing Anti Pollution Facial Masque. I had run out of clay masks, so the sale was really good timing.

Taken from Sukin- "Our Anti-Pollution Masque contains Bamboo Charcoal as the key active and is infused with Moringa Extract. Charcoal assists in the absorption of toxins and impurities which reveals purified and deeply cleansed skin. Rooibos Tea, Willowherb and Aloe Vera revitalise and refresh blemish prone skin.
Our masque has Quince, Bilberry and Pomegranate which assists in tightening pores, reducing shine and leaving a balanced complexion. Skin is left moisturised and nourished by Avocado, Coconut and Rosehip Oils."

The masque comes in a 50 ml tub. Under the screw-top lid is another plastic layer to help protect the product. The consistency of the grey coloured treatment is of a clay. It has a refreshing green herbal scent.

I find that although the masque is quite thick, it applies smoothly and easily across the skin. It didn't set like a traditional clay mask that cracks with movement, it is actually quite comfortable to wear.

I leave it on for around 15 minutes as recommended. Removal is easily accomplished with a face washer. I don't need to scrub too much to get the clay mask off my face.

Although I have combination skin that is on the drier side, I still get congestion in my T-zone, so this masque works well to clean and tighten pores without being too drying on the rest of my face. In fact my skin is left soft and smooth.

Sukin Oil-Balancing Anti Pollution Facial Masque is a win for me!

Simply Nails 2017 #6

On my favourite online forum, you've probably guessed it's Beauty Heaven, a thread was started for nail art challenges for anyone interested in being involved. Essentially, a couple of colours are chosen to use in a nail look. I thought I would also share with you my effort of this week's "Green and Blue" challenge.

You know the rule "Blue and green should never be seen..." well, I'm one that doesn't follow colour rules. Whether it be certain colours for the season to what colours should not be paired. I like to play with any combo, so I was excited to do a green and blue nail.

I chose Ulta3 Mojito, Boe Beauty Blue Illusion and a Kleancolor shimmer topper. I painted the green first, then sponged on the blue just to the 2nd half of my nail to create an ombre. For a sparkly final touch I painted 2 coats of the green tinted base with a golden holographic shimmer.

AM Skincare Routine 2017

I initially was going to update you on my AM skincare routine, but I last showed you my morning skincare routine at the end of last year. What???? Obviously a lot has changed since then, so this post will be my current 2017 routine.

Lately I haven't been using a cleanser in the morning, I've just been using coconut water with a small amount of salt water (not pictured) and applying to my skin using a cotton pad.

In a bottle I have some rosewater, I give myself a couple of spritzes in place of a toner.

My serum is currently the Re BFGF, it's ok, but doesn't wow me, so I'm really just finishing it off so I can start on some of my other serums.

Eye product is Ganique Paris Eye Lift Serum which is a lightweight serum that absorbs very quickly into the skin.

The moisturiser I have been using is the Sukin Supergreens.

Of course, I finish with a sunscreen and am using Sunsense Sensitive Invisible SPF. My fave!

I like to use a treatment twice a week. Most Tuesday mornings I give my skin a good scrub with Skinn DermAppeal,  love this exfoliator. Then on Sundays I like to use a mask, Sukin Anti-Pollution Facial Masque is what I have been using.

Certainly a lot of changes since the end of last year. I will try not to leave updating my skincare routine quite so long. Stay tuned for my updated night time routine next Thursday.

Opa! By Skinn Cosmetics

Opa! Is a perfume that Dimitri from Skinn Cosmetics created. After hearing about it on the demo aired on TVSN I really wanted it, but just couldn't justify adding another perfume to my already too large collection.

Well, I was ecstatic upon receiving a PR package from TVSN which included Opa! Had they read my mind????

Taken fron Skinn Cosmetics- "Opa! A Greek word complicated in its meaning, yet simplistic in its sentiment, evokes feelings of celebration and togetherness. Soft citrus top notes drive the fragrance, subtly balanced with floral notes of peony, lily-of-the-valley, and a hint of woody vanilla. Skinn's signature scent is designed for the confident, sexy woman who exudes warmth and rejoices in her femininity."

Opa! comes in a rectangular shaped flacon with bevilled edging. Simple in design, yet classy.

Opa! begins with a lovely zesty citrus and sweet, juicy pear, such a gorgeous combo, with the pear softening the citrus, which can sometimes be an overpowering note. The floral aspect adds a creamy velvety quality rather than a bouquet.
After wear, the deep musk and woodsy vanilla become more noticeable, adding a rich depth to the fragrance

Opa! is sensual and flirty. It is so versatile, able to be the finishing touch for a special occasion or easily enjoyed every day. This perfume is loved by my daughter and I could see my mum wearing it, too, so really perfect for all ages.

Being an Eau de Parfum this perfume has great throw and longevity.

I must say Opa! was love at first spritz!

Project Pan 2017 Update #4

So, as the title suggests, I am going to show you the progress of my Project Pan. It's a rolling 5 pan where I'm trying to finish products and then replace them as I go.

Here's where I was at in July.

I finished this Models Prefer foundation. It is a nice medium coverage foundation, but having no pump annoys me. I wasted some product because it was hard to control the amount of product I would dump out on a plastic tray for each application.

I have been using this Smashbox lip liner in place of a lipstick and now I'm really powering through it. I'm expecting to be almost finished, if not finished by the next update.

I am so glad to be done with this LA Girl eye liner, the only thing I liked about it was that the pencil is retractable.

After using this NYX gloss most days for the last 2 months, I didn't think I was getting anywhere. But, after sitting the tube in a glass of hot water for a few minutes, I was relieved that I could actually see some progress.

Another product I have finished is the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold. It felt great to finish another Color Tattoo because I was starting to worry that they'd go bad before I had a chance to get some good use from them.

I'm excited that I get to replace 3 products in my project.

I use a face powder whenever I wear makeup, so decided to add my LA Colors Pressed Mineral Powder. I'd read some good reviews and since using this powder a few times, I'm loving it!

I decided to include another Maybelline Color Tattoo. This one is Bad to the Bronze and is probably my favourite.

Now that I am almost finished with the last eye shadow that I can use as a blush from my 88 eye shadow palette that I am panning, I decided to include a blush in this project. It's the popular Milani Luminoso. I'm looking forward to actually using a blush rather than trying to fit my blush brush in a tiny eye shadow pan, lol.

I am happy that since my last update I have finished 3 more products, which brings my tally to 7 products for the year.

Sukin Super Green Facial Moisturiser

When I was in need of a day moisturiser, I decided to turn to a more budget friendly brand. Because I use serums, I just wanted a product to finish off my skincare routine that would increase hydration. My combination skin is always drier in Winter.

It didn't take me long to choose Sukin. A natural skincare brand made in Australia really appealed to me. I chose to give the Super Green Facial Moisturiser a try, it sounded jam-packed with goodies, I just had to buy it!

Taken from Sukin- "Our lightweight Nutrient Rich Facial Moisturiser is enriched with extracts of kale, spirulina, parsley and chlorella to promote a radiant, healthy complexion. Acai and goji berry extracts are rich in antioxidants and nutrients to assist in minimising the appearance of fine lines. Hydrating oils of rosehip, avocado and jojoba lock moisture into the skin."

The moisturiser comes in a decent sized 125 ml plastic bottle with pump-top dispenser. The bottle has quite a dark tint to protect the integrity of the product. I really like the green label with white writing, nice and simple.

It has an almost lotion consistency, lightweight but feels rich. There is a fruity scent that is natural, not synthetic, I quite like it!

A pump of this moisturiser is actually too much as a little goes a long way. I need to be careful to not use any more than half a pump for both face and neck. It glides across my skin beautifully and absorbs quite quickly.

My skin is left smooth and soft, with this moisturiser playing nicely with serums I have applied before.

We all know how good greens are for the inside, now I know that they work well on the outside, too. Combined with the other beautiful ingredients, my skin is loving the Sukin Super Green Facial Moisturiser. I have had no adverse reactions, just skin that doesn't have so much of a Winter dullness. It's a win for me!

ColourPop Ultra Satin Minis

I have reviewed the ColourPop Ultra Satins in the past, so I won't go into too much detail about the product, you can read the review here. In short, they are a liquid lipstick with a mousse-y formula. They don't set completely, but are long wearing and very comfortable on the lips.

ColourPop had a sale that I couldn't resist (story of my life!) plus with a minimum spend I was able to get free liquid lipstick minis. I chose the Ultra Satin formula because it is my favourite. As a hoarder lover of lipsticks, I actually prefer minis, because I rarely finish a full sized lipstick.

The shades I ordered are Frick 'n' Frack, London Fog, Strip and Prim.

August Empties 2017

Another month another empties post. You guys know the drill.

This past month I seem to be decluttering much more than I finished.

I'll begin with these Alpha H travel sized products.

Triple Action Cleanser- A gel cleanser that works to balance skin without drying it out.
Repurchase? A great cleanser, but I now prefer cream cleansers. This one would have been fantastic when I was in my teens/early twenties.

Micro Cleanse Super Scrub- A scrub formulated to exfoliate skin both chemically and physically. This is such a gentle exfoliator, the jojoba beads have no sharp edges, so they just glide over the skin as you massage over the skin.
Repurchase? I prefer a more abrasive scrub to get rid of all those dead skin cells.

Balancing and Pore Refining Mask- A clay mask that deep cleanses pores, whilst having properties that also soothe skin.
Repurchase? A decent mask, but with my current stockpile of facial masks, I really am not in the market for another.

Balancing Moisturiser- A light-weight moisturiser that gently exfoliates the skin.
Repurchase? I would consider this moisturiser in future (too many that need using up at the moment!). Being so light, it would make for a perfect summer cream.

Re BFGF Serum- An anti-aging serum I bought from Ozsale to target fine lines and skin damage caused by the sun, aging and stress.
Repurchase? I actually am now using my back-up, but I'm not sure I would try and seek this serum out. It's nice and hydrating, but I'm not sure it's doing a lot for my skin, especially considering the huge claims.

Swisse Hibiscus Anti-Aging Night Cream- A rich night cream that targets aging skin.
Repurchase? I have a back-up and would definitely buy this cream again in the future. I enjoy a rich moisturiser at night. This delivers without being too heavy. My skin still feels hydrated the next morning. I love it!

Skinn Crease Release Eye Serum- As the name suggests, this cream is supposed to smooth out crows feet.
Repurchase? I am not keen on the silicone like feel of this eye serum. Once it is absorbed it just doesn't feel hydrating enough around my delicate eye area.

Skinn Reorganize Night Eye Balm- This is a very thick, rich eye balm. I apply at night and it holds in the moisture, not fully absorbing before I go to sleep.
Repurchase? I love this eye balm! I already have another and will most likely be purchasing again. The jar is quite small, but it lasts for a long time, because only a very small amount is needed.

Sadly I am decluttering my House Of Beauty lip hybrids. They are like a gloss, but are extremely pigmented. They have a 6 month shelf life and I've had them for at least 3 years, eek. Time to go, what a waste! It makes me realise just how smarter I have to be with my makeup shopping. The Pur Vixen mascara also has to go, it is beginning to dry out and is getting clumpy.

Moreish Euphoria Cream Cleanser

I have had the Moreish Euphoria Cream Cleanser for some time now, just sitting there waiting to be used. Well I finally finished my stash of cleansers to get to this one, something I have been looking forward to trying.

Taken from Moreish- "To gently smooth, cleanse and soften all skin types, including sensitive skin. A rich creamy cleanser that removes makeup and impurities, leaving the skin soft and balanced."

The cleanser comes in a large 200 ml bottle with an easy to use pump-top dispenser. The cleanser is a light creamy consistency.

It has a lovely sweet scent that to my nose smells like a fruity honey mix. So nice!

This product is full of gorgeous ingredients such as argan, aloe vera, almond oil and manuka honey just to name a few.

The cream cleanser is so lovely to use. It is gentle, yet effective at cleansing the skin. Not only does it clean  well, being a cream means that it won't strip the skin.

It really does leave my face feeling soft and smooth. Something that I appreciate now that I'm older and my skin, although is combination, is becoming drier.

I am so glad I bought 2 bottles of the Moreish Euphoria Cream Cleanser, it is a dream to use and a total win for me!

What is your favourite type of cleanser?

Simply Nails #5

I really do like to create a lot of purple nail looks and today I have yet another one to show you. What can I say? I love purple!

I started with Australis Nail Colour in #bethatgirl for my base colour. I then used a fine brush to paint small stripes of the frosted blue polish You Blew Me Away from FOA. That's it, so easy!

30 Beauty Questions Tag

It's been a long time since I completed any kind of blogger Tag. After a quick search on google I come across the 30 Beauty Questions Tag.

1. Do you remember your first makeup item?
I'm pretty sure it was some Mary Kay makeup I bought at a friend's makeup party. Eye shadow and foundation.

2. Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications? I really like tubing mascaras. My favourite would be the Poni Cosmetics White Knight mascara. No smudging and provides both length and volume.

3.What kind of coverage to you prefer from foundation? I like a full coverage velvety finish. However, since hitting my 40s, I'm starting to find that it can settle into fine lines and and has the potential of looking cakey. I'm thinking that BB cream now looks best on my skin.

4. Favourite high end brand? Probably Urban Decay. Though I've only ever tried their eye shadow palettes.

5. What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven't? Oh, there's so many that I want to try! Tarte, Juvia's Place, Dose of Colors, Ofra, Jouer, It Cosmetics, to name a few.

6. Favourite drugstore brand? I would have to say Maybelline. The products I have tried are good and I am always looking forward to seeing what they are going to release next.

7. Do you wear fake lashes? I love the look of false lashes. After a few attempts, I still can't get the hang of applying them, sadly.

8. Is there any kind of makeup you can't leave the house without? Not really, I leave the house without makeup quite often.

9. What is your most cherished beauty product? I love makeup, but I don't really get emotionally connected to anything. I could easily give it all away and start again, if I had the money. Oh, the fun I would have rebuilding my collection!

10. How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick up an item here and there or get lots of goodies at once? I try not to buy too often, but when I do, I like to haul quite a few items at once.

11. Do you have a beauty budget? Or do you spend freely? I don't have a set budget for makeup. In saying that, I do have to watch what I spend.

12. Do you utilize coupons, rewards cards and sales when you shop for makeup? I generally only buy makeup during a sale.

13. What type of products do you buy the most of? Definitely eye shadows, specifically palettes.

14. Is there a brand that you absolutely can't stand? Every brand I have tried has good and not-so-good products, I can't recall ever disliking a brand as a whole.

15. Do you have a favourite place to shop for makeup? In store, I like to shop for makeup at Priceline. I mostly shop online, though.

16. Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine? I would love a simple skincare routine, but I enjoy trying new products too much.

17. Favourite bath and body brand? I don't get excited by bath and body products, to be honest. I generally just buy whatever is on sale.

18. If you could only buy from one brand, which brand would you choose? Oh, I really can't answer that. Next question!

19. What brand do you think has the best packaging? I love Benefit's adorable packaging. I think Kat Von D rocks her packaging.

20. Which celebrity always has great makeup? I really am not one to follow makeup of celebrities. I assume that in most cases, they have not applied their own makeup anyway.

21. Do you belong to any online makeup communities? Yes, Beauty Heaven. An awesome resource of all things beauty related, including reviews. But, what I love most is the forum, where like-minded members can interact with each other. I have "met" some amazing women on this website.

22. Favourite beauty gurus? I love Hailey and Kat from Beauty News, I also follow their individual channels.

23. Do you like multi functional products like lip and cheek stains? I do find that multi functional products can make life easier.

24. Are you clumsy in putting on makeup? After all these years I still struggle with winged eye liner and getting both eyes even.

25. Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes? If I'm not using an actual eye primer, I'm using a cream shadow as a base like Maybelline Color Tattoos for example. I do sometimes wear a makeup primer, but the Sunsense Sunscreen I am using currently negates the need for one.

26. How many hair products do you use on a typical day? I either use a hair oil or hair mist daily, but I don't use styling products.

27. What do you apply first, concealer or foundation? I apply a colour corrector, foundation then concealer.

28. Do you ever consider taking makeup classes? In the past I was interested in makeup classes, but the desire is gone now. They would come in handy, but I just enjoy playing with makeup, I'm no longer worried about perfecting the art.

29. Lip Gloss or Lipstick? I don't hate lip gloss, but I much prefer a lipstick.

30. What do you love about makeup? I love the routine of applying makeup, I find it a calming process. I also love being creative, trying different techniques and colour combinations. A confidence boost resulting from wearing makeup doesn't hurt.

I am not going to single anyone out, so I tag everyone! If you do the 30 Beauty Questions Tag please leave me a link to your post, I'd love to check out your answers.
